Hello,

today I made an encoder work for the pressure_setting of the altimeter.

Works great: turn right for current altpressure up and left for down, perfect.

Now: in the flightsim you can press a 'b' on the keyboard to make the current pressure where you are the pressure on the altimeter.

I would like to add this function to the button_press of the encoder.

Is this possible?

I am thinking about an offset or event (couldn't find it...) or just sending a 'b' as keystroke in the case there is no offset/event.

Is this possible??

Good question about the Offset.... I think so but i also not know that event or Offset myself. We should figure out !


About KEY: YES and NO.
- In FSX/P3D Yes.... Thats a basic function of Mobiflight !
- In FS2020 at the moment NO.... Here Microsoft blocks our commands ( maybe a security tool of Windows) Hopefully in the future this is possible again. For now we not see a way to solve this from Mobiflight side. Lets wait if MS patch this problem or offer a other solution for us.

ALTERNATE:
Normaly we can set every SIM Function also to a Joystick Button. Here Mobiflight support VJOY. If you use that tool you can set the Encoder Button Input as a Joystick Button and set the Sim Function from KEy "b" to that Joystick Button. Then it will work fine i think !

First: I looked everywhere to find out if there wasn't a FSUIPC code available for the corresponding 'b' key.

Found the answer and it s: No.....simply (as the author of FSUIPC says himself) because this key is a cheat and doesn't exist in a real airplane.

Now there is a altimeter set function_code in FSUIPC but you can only set it to a fixed pressure, so not an option here.

So.....got vJoy, installed it and progrmmed MobiFlight for this 1 button: (send 'b' at press, send <empty> at release)



In MSFS2020 there now is a new device, the vJoy and programmed that '1_button'to the same function as found under Keyboard_b_key:


And...there it is!! And: MSFS is 'smart'.....(see description on the right it automatically assigns the standard pressure above Transition Altitude
(although .....I do not think it is smart enough to change that value depending on which part of the world you are but ok...for US it's fine)....

When at the airport I can press the encoder to 'cheat' and use the airfield_pressure or (during flight) I can rotate the encoder le ri to dec/inc the baro_pressure used by the altimeter.Great stuf!!


Now....have a look at this: I was almost thinking there was a possibility in MobiFlight to send a character:



As you can see MF gives the possibility to send a character...easy!!!

But...it does not work (no clue why not) but together with vJoy it's no problem, thanks again!

Thats what i told you..... Sending keys is a basic function of Mobiflight..... Basicly one of the first functions mobiflight ever use.
The Tool was always there and it technical work from Mobiflight side.... If you use it with P3D/FSX it work fine. It also send the key same way if you use FS2020. The only problem is FS2020 not recive it.
