I would like to build the engine start switch with the solenoid switch. Is this magnetic switch simply clamped to the Arduino Mega as a switch or how does it work?
What should I pay attention to when buying this magnetic switch (5V?)
Greeting
Klaus

Hi Klaus,

most solenoids operate on 12V and have a force of around 5N. This works if your Mechanic is very smooth. You can open the switch and reduce the spring pressure there, but this can cause you to damage the switch.
I also have this problem, which is why I ordered solenoids with 30N, which I promise will be sufficient.
Admittedly, I have already seen with some users that the 5N solenoids work perfectly. The fact that it doesn't work for me may be because I'm not necessarily mechanically competent.

About the technology itself:

To operate the 12V solenoid you need an external power supply. You also need a 5V relay control, which is controlled by the Mega, to switch the 12V to the solenoid. The relay may e.g. only switch the solenoid when N2 of the corresponding engine speeds up between 56 and 58%. This state is only achieved when the fuel cut-off switches are set to idle, which are switched on at startup when N2 reaches 20%. With this combination you achieve a clean shift. If you have any questions about this, please let me know.

Hi Stephan.
Ist denn Mobiflight für das betreiben von Relais geeignet ?
Als was muss ich diesen denn im Mobiflight konfigurieren ( Output ? )
Achja und welchen soll ich da besorgen ?

Hi Klaus,

klar kann MF Relais betreiben. Ich benutze dazu diese Module:

https://www.roboter-bausatz.de/1670/1-kanal-relais-modul-5v-high/low-level-trigger-einstellbar
