Hi

Please confirm we talk about the "downloader"
the file you download from homepage is NOT the Programm itself..... It´s a "self extracting exe file" you run 1 time.... Then it will "unpack" the Mobiflight installation in the same folder you will run this file.

So ......

Get sure you Copy the downloaded file OUT of the download folder to the spot you like to install it ( e.g. d:/flightsimstuff/mobiflight )
Also please take advance to use "run in ADMIN Mode" if you try to install in a win protected folder ( like c:/programmfilesx86) NOTE.... We High recommen to NOT install it in those folders..... Best way to handle MF is in a "free" folder !
Good Luck !

Hi - yes, this problem is with the downloader.

Thanks for your advice ,I have re-downloaded the MobiflightConnector 7.10.0.exe and moved it in a new folder. Run it as both a standard user and admin and still get the same result

***UPDATE: This error seems to occur when Mobiflight-Updater.exe is run....***

Cheers,

Davey

Sure.... You can not run it twice.

Do you try to run the installer "again" if it still installed MF ? ( The installer remain in the folder )

Simply test.... When you move it to a new folder this should be empty and only the installer exe is there..... After run it all the MF files should be there now ( includeing the Installer itself)
If you like to RUN Mobiflight you must use then the "MFConnector.EXE" and no longer the installer !
Good Luck !

So, here's what I have just done:

  1. www.mobiflight.com
  2. Click Download >> https://www.mobiflight.com/en/download.html
  3. Click Download 7.10.0 >> This donwloaded MobiFlightConnector-7.10.0.exe to my Downloads folder
  4. Moved MobiFlightConnector-7.10.0.exe to c://FlightSimStuff
  5. Right click >> Run as Administrator >> enter Admin password

RESULT: Pop Alert Title: Mobiflight Updater with Unhandled exception error - Access is denied. System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception (0x80004005): Access is denied

In my FlightSimStuff folder I now have:

  1. MobiFlightConnector-7.10.0.exe
  2. MobiFlight-Updater.exe

Thanks for your time looking into this...

Thats strange. I swear i never heard that issue before.

I know thats not what you expect to hear..... In case i´m not the programmer and i not know what components Mobiflight need to run the Installer..... I can just recommend to update your System at first.

For example if this installer need something like runtimeDLL or NetFramework Components......

1. Can you confirm your Windows10 is UpToDate.... so all possible Updates are done and installed ?
2. Please check if a Protection Software block installation.... Like a Antivir or Firewall or Spamfilter system ?

3. Whatever i think this is not the key..... Would you like to test a older version ?
For example does 7.8.3 work for you ?? ....... https://www.mobiflight.com/tl_files/download/releases/MobiFlightConnector-7.8.3.exe
NOTE: I not recommend to use this old version..... I just want to know it the older one install fine.... so we know the difference !
Good Luck !

So - finally, success. :w00t: :w00t:

  • So, Windows 10 was fully up-to-date.
  • AV not causing any problems
  • Successfully unpacked MobiFlightConnector-7.8.3.exe
  • 7.8.3 checked for updates, found 7.10.0 and tried to update automatically - failed
  • I then checked for updates manually in 7.8.3 - found 7.10.0 - tried to update, failed with a message basically saying restart machine and try again
  • Restarted Pc, launched 7.8.3, manual check for update, successfully downloaded and updated to 7.10.0

So, the MobiFlight-Update.exe that I have has a modification date of 09/09/2020 - there would seem to be an issue with the automatic updating.

Thanks for your help, and especially the link to an earlier version, very helpful - hope my experience can help others. This is my first time with flight sims and the whole "home cockpit" thing, and the success that I have seen other people have MobiFlight is why I came here.

Happy flying everyone...

Hhmmm.....

Thats crazy. It was NOT my idea to give you a older version to create a access to the AUTO Updater :-)
Technical i just want to know if you be able to install the old version to check if there is a difference in the installer.exe.

BUT I not understand the result.... Technical the Auto-Updater OR the manual "Search for Updates" Button do the same like you still try.....
It Download the SAME file you will get if you click on the Homepage Download Button..... It Copy that file into the Mobiflight Folder..... then it Quit current running mobiflight and run this EXE File instead ..... Technical the 100% same procedure like you try to do by hand and get a error.

Whatever.... Problem is solved for you.... And others not have the issue cause we see in statistics hundrets of people download the Homepage file the last days and install it without problems!
Good Luck !

Hi,

I did the same as DaveyMeth2 and downloaded 7.8.3 and let it update to 7.10.0. This worked fine.

Thanks.

Hi guys.

About Virus.

If you download from our Homepage Official Link we are sure there is no virus inside. Those Message come cause we not pay a lot of Money to Microsoft or Norton etc to verrify the file there. So lots of Antivirus Apps will alert Mobiflight. Take care to use official link and simply ignore the warning !

******

About procedure with 7.8.3.
This was not our intention but i think this is a solution and we can ignore the problem. All other Users have installed without trouble. Maybe in your systems there was just a Registry issue.

BUT

Please report if this problem occure again with a next release. Hopefully the fact you now have 7.10 solve the issue already and you can now use Updater like planed. If NOT we will check this then. Its not the correct workaround to download a old version to be able to update every time.
Good Luck !

No need to apollogy..... We know this fact and we understand some users are scarred about that Popup Message.

It´s the same like with the guy who delliverd my Cheese-PIzza to my house. He realy look like a islamic terrorist..... But i know him 20 Years. He´s a friend and i fully trust him.
The Installer is a selfextracting EXE file.... Same like lots of Virus in the early Computer time. So it´pretty normal Antivir get allert cause it simply not know it and just check the facts.
The only differece.... trusting my Pizzaboy is for free..... Tell Norton that Mobiflight.exe is secure cost money !
Good Luck !
