I am having some issues with the Mobiflight software. After a fresh boot the software runs great but on a restart of Mobiflight (in the same windows session) the software can get very slow. Loading and connecting takes ages and changing settings take a minute or more to load. If I restart the PC all is good again. What could be causing this?

Regards,

Kris

I thought I was the only one having this problem!

Using FSUICP7 with MSFS2020. After about 30 mins of mobiflight being open it slows to a crawl. Clicking any buttons in the software (... on input/output tabs, or any of the main menu settings) takes a good minute or 2 for it to respond.

Additionally, if I shut down mobiflight and then open it up again without restarting my computer, it just sits on the connection screen and doesn't ever load.

I've ordered a new mega2560 thinking that might have been the problem (think I shorted out some pins on the existing one, so needed a new one anyway!) but it looks like this might be a software problem rather than a hardware one then!

Happy to pass along and logs etc. as needed!

Hi

Technical the used sim should be no factor. Mobiflight not "see" what sim is in use. It just recive data from FSUIPC..... Same way whatever you use FSUIPC 4,5,6,7 or XPUIPC.

BUT i have a Idea.

If possible you both please confirm:

1. You use Version 7.10.0 ( Up to date release version) AND you not do any custom reworks in the code youreself.
2. You use Mobiflight in AdminMode and/or you have installed Mobiflight in a windows non protected folder ( so not in /programmfilesx86 or so)

3. If possible observe the Windows resource managment ( STRG/ALT/DEL- Taskmanager)
If you can please report if you see here a indication.... Check CPU Usage by Mobiflight and also RAM Usage.... At beginning and at the point it get segnificant slow.

4. Please report shortly your setup.... Number of Arduinos in use and approximately the number of Configs/devices.

5. If you can.... Does the problem also occure if you do nothing expect start/run Mobiflight and run the Sim..... So you not press buttons you not fly the aricraft. Just stand on the ground for 30 Minutes e.g.

I still got a idea.... But i need some testing and i need your reports !
Good Luck !

Here's my details:

1 Elegoo Mega2560.
2 encoders, 2 leds, 2 MAX7219 7 seg led.

Mobiflight version 7.10.0, no custom reworks.
FSUICP ver 7.

Normal CPU: between 0-1%. Ram 21mb
When frozen: Not responding appears in task manager next to Mobiflight name, CPU drops to 0%, ram stays the same.
Just after new window appears: CPU goes up to 2.5% for a few seconds then back to 0-1%.

Mobiflight is installed into c:/mobiflight
Not sure if I'm running it as admin. Will check the next time I open it.

Will test out number 5 for you next time I load it all up.

Thanks for fast awnser.

I think No 5 is not needed anymore. My Theory is crash after you tell me you just use 1 Board and also after report the RAM not segnificant increase.
I need to rethink again. Sorry.
Good Luck !

I thought I'd test it anyway.

Opened Moboflight and FSUICP, pressing the edit button opened the window in about a second.

Started up MSFS2020, during loading screens same as above.

Started up a flight, during loading screens same as above.

When in plane and on ground: slow, takes at least 30 seconds.

Same 30 seconds or more while in the air.

Went back to main menu, still takes 30 secs or more to edit.

Closed MSFS2020, still slow.

So the slowdown seems to start once I get into the plane in the sim, and then stays like that after regardless of if I close MSFS2020 or not.

I also closed down mobiflight after all of this and then opened it up again, and it just sat on the 'Start connecting' screen not doing anything. Task manager shows not responding, 10mb ram, 0% cpu. It finally connected after about 10 minutes, but it still took 30 secs or so to edit anything.

Hope this helps!

Yes it does.

Your first report sounds like the problem "increase" slowly with the time.
NOW you show up that the problem imidiatly exist at startup of the flight.
So my therory of a override RAM ( i thought about the logging file) was wrong.

Please confirm a last thing.... As i know a lot of problems was in case of a FSUIPC/Simconnect issue. Here there was a patch for FSUIPC Beta and also for the Sim.
So.... Can you confirm you use the last built of the Sim and also FSUIPC ( Both patched ?)

And finaly.... Can you give us a "short" overview from your hardware system ? I not need a fully list. Just to know if your PC is pretty old in the minimum requirement or if you got a "monster" .... So Processor, Ram, GPU and Typ of Harddisk please.
Good Luck !

I am using X-plane and XUIPC.

1. Yes I run 7.10.0
2. I have tried with and without admin mode. Running it from a folder on the desktop.
3. Cpu usage 0% and not responding ram doesn't increase.
4. Only one 2560 with 2 dual encoders and 3 max7219's. Just testing it a little without a full setup.
5. I had it exactly when just standing there. I am just programming the functions and not flying. But its already slow without even opening the simulator.

I now just started the software and it took 4-5 minutes to load. Then it works correctly in the sim but as soon you want to edit something again it has to load for 1-2 minutes. And after a PC restart, it functions well. But if I shut down Mobiflight and open it again then the problems start most of the time. Sometimes I can open it more than once without problems. It's very weird and I see no logic in it.

System is 16 core 32 threads Threadripper 64GB 3200mhz RAM , 980ti (next month 3090) and alls NVMe SSD's

I will retest again when I get chance to make sure that the slowdown only starts once I'm in the aircraft. Will also test whether it happens with/without MSFS2000/fsuicp running as well. Will also check I am on the latest version of fsuicp.

For reference I have a i7-7700k, gigabyte 2080, 32gb of ram and everything installed on an ssd.

I thought it might have been a cpu problem, as MSFS2020 does use a lot of my cpu, but if Aviato has a 16core thread ripper I think we can probably rule that out!

So I've done some more testing, and it seems like the software just get slow over time regardless of what's running.

I opened up just Mobiflight by itself, and I started getting the slowdowns after about 20 mins of having it open and editing stuff.

It starts slowing down quicker when I have FSUICP/MSFS2020 open, but the slowdowns happen regardless of which software is open.

I will try it out on a laptop I have lying around which is a fairly fresh install of windows at some point and see if it happens on that.

Just to follow up:

Slowdown also occurs on a laptop with just the mobiflight software installed, no FSUICP7 or MSFS 2020.

Have upgraded to the latest version of FSUICP7 on my main computer but the slowdowns still occur.

No idea what's causing it at this point!

I´m not sure if we till talk about..... Can you Cinfirm problem is solved if you disable all Logging Mode Tools in Mobiflight.
This should not be the case.... But it´s a idea ! ..... No other Uers report this.... So i´m sure there must be a signifcant difference in your system !
Good Luck !

Hi there, hope you all are ok!! Thank you for this awesome tool !!!
After kind of 20 mins of use when a click edit or settings shows the infamous legend Not Responding for about 3 minutes, tried with 1 mega, 1 encoder KY-040, two 7 segment (8 digits) running as administrator, in task manager shows CPU 0% MEM 10MB, all LOGS disable except events.
During normal operation shows CPU 1~3% MEM around 20MB
Tried with other mega board (different brand), 16 led 12 toggle switch same behavior.
Tried MSFS running and closed same result.
Both Megas firmware updated
specs; MF ver 7.10.0 FSUIPC7 ver 7.0.2 MSFS2020 ( error in every update ) all running as Administrator.
Aircraft: A320nx FBW
all installed in dedicated ssd drive for MSFS2020 and not in the MSFS folder
PC; Ryzen 5 3600X, RAM 32 GB, GPU Radeon RX 5700 XT.

Hope i was clear english its not my primary language

Thank you for your time and effort.

Hi

Welcome to Mobiflight.

I see you refresh this topic.
Basicly i can not reproduce this problem on my computer..... Also the Basic Topic Thematic is strange to me.

Can you maybe locate the problem better ?

In your situation i would try to test on a other computer if possible..... I not think the sim is related to this but as i said in the past.... I don´t know.
So if you still own P3D or FSX ( with there correct FSUIPC Versions ..... not must be registred FSUIPC) .
Can you test/Confirm it is different there.
Or do you know a other Cockpitbuilder or a friend with a Flightsim installed where you can do a test ?

On first view i already think this is maybe a "system problem". As always i recommend to check at first Windows and Hardware for Updates.
I know this is a verry poor and bad awnser.... But its a MUST HAVE to get the system with all drivers always UpToDate.... Then we can talk about issues.
Good Luck !
