Hello
is there another solution than just Max7219 for 7 segments?
Greetings Klaus

Yeah.... Awnser is NO !

But thats not the "bad news" you not like to hear.

Max7219 work fine if you know how to work with.

Use Google..... Use Forum Search.
Without big knowledge and work you can use a MAXTube with removeble Diggits ( Green PCB) and you can build a "connector" with a piece of Breakout board and some Pins.
OR you buy for some dollars a premade PCB that is designed for that.

Check "Helimech" Videos on Youtube. He show a lot of interesting ways how to use MaxTubes with a little solderwork.

Also note that you not be limmited to the 8 Digit Blocks. You can easy wire each display ( common cathode) of every color, size and digitnumber.
Good Luck !

It would be much easier to be able to use the 6 digit TM1637 displays for the radios. It's a pity those are not supported.

Has anyone tried to get these working?

This will not work.... Wrong Chip and basicly wrong logic cause this are common anode if i see correctly.

Same awnser like above.... Not get scarred about the Max!!! Your idea with the TM1673 is just you need here 6 diggits.... What do you do if you build the CRS Display and need a 3 Digit Display ? Or a 4 Digit one for SPD ? Do you like to use again a other System here just in case you can buy it premounted on those PCB´s ???

The solution to use a MaxChip as controller and wire the needed Diggits ( 1,2 3,4,5,6,7,8 whatever we need) is the most profitable, cause this solve every situation same way.

At beginning this looks bad.... But if you growup to a professional build you will finaly use 1 digit displays only.... And you will buy ( or build yourself) PCB´s for that.... So wireing is no longer needed in this advanced system !

Always remember.... In a good build the Display never have a Controller directly behind..... We have no space in a MCP or Radio for that. Normaly we just want the Display and the controller should be far away sowhere back in the panel !
Good Luck !
