I have tried to configure Flight Altitude selection via an encoder but there it stoped.
As far as I know for that type you should use Event number and NOT Offset.
I am unable to find any way to do it!
Anyone that can give me the instructions (hopefully with a teaspoon) how to do that.
Unable to find this knob under presets

Hi

As Always.... Not think about this "fu**ing" Presets. ( Thats why i was against presets in the past my friends)

At first tell us
- WHAT Simulator ( FSX/P3D or Xplane )
- WHAT Aircraft ( Standard or a AddOn like PMDG )
- WHAT kind of Input is supported by your Aircraft.... For example PMDG only support its OWN EventIDs .... Standard Aircraft support EventID and same time Offset Writes ..... Other AddOns like Jeehell Airbus only accept Offset Wirtes and no events. ... Finaly some others accept nothing and you have to work with Key Commands and Joystickbuttons or LUA Macros )

If you know WHAT you like we can tell you WHAT you need to do.
Good Luck !

Thanks.
I think I figured it out. I was using output instead of input. As soon as that was discovered it worked ok.
Thanks for the trouble.

Hi, I am having the same problem. the fsuipc offset does not do anything. I am using fsx with standard aircraft. Boeing 737. Is there a list of events or offsets for standard aircrafts?

Hi kaborex,

go to he root folder of your sim. There is a folder Modules/FSUIPC Documents. Here you should find the document you are looking for.
If you don't have FSUIPC 4.9xxx installed, go to http://fsuipc.com, download and install it.

This is what I found in the document. So I will try and use this offset and report back:

I am assuming 0x034E is the offset I need for the encoder to change COM1 frequency.

034E 2 COM1 frequency, 4 digits in BCD format. A frequency of 123.45 is represented by 0x2345. The leading 1 is assumed.

Still no luck. I have used every possible fsuipc offset, every event and still no luck. I saw a post where someone was asked to set the encoder as a key device and then open up a note pad. Did all that and can confirm the encoder does work. I can get it to type the letter A and B in reverse.

Not sure what is going on. I have spent all day on this. I bet it is something simple but just do not know what. I have also disconnected everything else from the arduino just to exclude interference from something else. still nothing. On some fsuipc setting the encoder behaves like the button to swap between Nav frequencies although i specifically asked for Com frequency.

Hi,

you have to know the difference between an Offset and an EventID. Look from the side of the simulator and then is an offset an output (both with o). An EventID is an Input.
So you need for your encoder an EventID. The list with the EventIDs you find in the same folder. The name is: The 2016 List of FSX and P3D Controls.pdf

Hi Stephan,

So what you are saying is that an offet is an output and an event ID in an input right? I will try the event ID as the encoder is basically an input device if I am understanding correctly. Mobiflight is a Great software by the way and appreciate all your help.

Sir you are a star. It worked. Gonna be a long night for me. Will be programming till the early hours. So pleased. I spent all afternoon and knew it must be something simple and it was.

Offset = output
event ID =input

Plain and simple.

Not to worry I have worked it out. It is slightly different from the video that was on youtube. I might make a new video to explain how I did it.
