I don´t understand the question.....

As i know there must bu a restart after renaming a Mega
Cause the current name will be read at Startup From Mobiflight. If you change the Name it will be uploaded to the Board BUT Mobiflight already got the Old Name ( As i said it was read only 1 time at startup) .

Maby there is also a Problem if you try to rename multiple Boards in one seasson.... Normaly nobody do this cause you rename the Board when you work with it first time . I will say in 99,9 of situations a user make multiple restarts ( while creating devices, testing configs etc) before he set again another new Arduino and make a rename again.

***********
If i missunderstand your question please tell me the exact spot of the problem.
Good Luck !

Currently there is no Step by Step Guide for these settings.
Just go to the settings tab and pick your mobiflight board and then change the name. Now upload your config otherwise your changes will get lost.
Have a great day!
