Not sure what is causing this but the only way I can get Mobiflight to start is if I first load a blank sketch in the the Arduino Mega (I use the blink sketch).

Then I can start Mobiflight, and it detects the mega and prompts to upload firmware and then it works just fine.
I can test displays, I can run my flight sim xplane and it responds to my com1, com2 nav1 freq and standby, I can change standby freq using my encoders. Everything I know how to program right is working ok.

If I shut mobiflight down and then try to start it again, no go, mobiflight won't run. I have to start all over with the blink sketch first.

Hi,

please run the sketch eeprom_clear from your Arduino IDE. You will find it under FILE -> EXAMPLES -> EEPROM.

After that upload the Mobiflight firmware and define your devices. Then upload the devices to the Module.
Disconnect and reconnect the MEGA-module from USB and restart Mobiflight. It should recognize the module immediately.

Rename the last *.mcc file Mobiflight will automatically start up with, so that Mobiflight starts without any device-configuration.
This ensures that there is no error in the * .mcc file. You can load the *.mcc file then manually.

ok, that worked. I had to rebuild the complete configuration, Some error somewhere.
As I rebuilt it I came across the problem again, but since I was saving my files periodically with different names I was able to revert back to the prior one that was ok and continuting to rebuild from there.

Now I have a different problem, will search forum for solutions, but now when I click on the RUN It runs for just a second or less and kicks back off to STOP

Hi

FIRST we need to find the issue spot.... Only 2 Ways. There is a Bug in the Sotware OR there is a issue in your File ( by youres)

Normaly i can say 99% of "Error while loading" and "Swap within 1 Second from RUN to STOP" is a issue fro the User ( Belive me, i see it 100+ times)

BUT
We also are in trouble with the new versions. ( Last weeks we go from 7.5.0 to 7.5.1 ... back to 7.5.0 and now up to 7.5.2 )

So....

PLEASE at first you must tell us WHAT Version you currently use.
THEN You must tell us if a file is broke from itself ( that run in last seasons whatever you do nothing change like new configs or deleting something)

Basic Rule. a File that work and not be changed MUST work at all time. If this is not true then we have a bug in MF ( So tell us Version pls)

Otherwise. If the issues come only when you create new stuff then i would say simply your settings are wrong.
Good Luck !

Sorry about the double post, I was thinking you had solved the first problem so I should open a new post.

I originally was on 7.5.0, then updated to 7.5.1 and everything seemed to be working pretty well.

I was running 7.5.1, I was changing some of the input mappings to perform a keystroke. Everything was working ok.
Then it requested to update to new version, 7.5.2, I did that and was then making some more changes and testing them when it quit allowing it to RUN but switches directly to STOP.

I cleared everything, renamed files so it would not auto load, cleared arduino eeprom. Then I started from scratch with a single 7-segment display defined in the arduino and a single fsuipc mapped to the display. It still would not run.

I will try to reload the last version and see if I can get it to work.
Thanks for your attention. :)

Hi again.

Thats a interesting situation we not think about....

7.5.0 was the working version long time.
Then come 7.5.1. but that include some bugs so we decide to downgrade again.
Now the 7.5.2 is live and a auto Upgrade from the Old 7.5.0 should work !
BUT: I´m not sure if a update from 7.5.1 (Broke version) to 7.5.2 is finaly possible !

****

This is just a theory but "maby" a file that was build or reworked (save) in 7.5.1 is "broke" ( I know Seb change a lot in the save and script logics)
A File from old version 7.5.0 should normaly work in 7.5.2 without problems ! Also a file that is create now in 7.5.2 should work fine.
BUT as is said "maby" files that create or used in the broke version last 3 weeks are finaly "killed" .

What you can do.....

Get sure you got correct firmware and Software.

I recommend to save your mcc Files and your mfmc files (Hardwaresettings from Ardionos) in a save spot ( USB Stick or a other folder on Harddisk)
THEN delete Mobiflight on your harddisk and also clearup the Arduino completly ( EEPROM CLEAR Sketch)
NOW Start completly new... Download 7.5.2 from Homepage and also flash your arduinos after first connection with the current firmware that was include in 7.5.2 .
Then you can try to use your old files to set the Arduino (mfmc) and you can try to load your old mcc file.
Good Luck !

Well had some success. Deleted all parts of Mobiflight and xpuipc then reinstalled version 7.4 along with clearing eprom on mega.
Then loaded a led in the mega and configured it in the mappings to do an offset. Ran xplane and mobiflight and it worked, so I reloaded my full configuration from before.
7 -7segment displays, 7 encoders, 6 leds, 4 momentary switches, 6 rocker switches, 1 rotary 4 pole switch. It was working pretty well, could test all leds and displays.

While I was turning some of my encoders it stopped and switched to stop. Wouldn't run again. Cleared the last 4 encoders I had setup. Removed mobiflight completely and reinstalled, reloaded my configurations. It worked again, reprogramed the last 4 encoders and still running.

Having a few problems with my 4 pole switch and some single leds, but guessing that maybe offsets not what I was think they are.

Thanks for the help. Staying with 7.4 for now unless you have compelling reason to switch.
Thanks
Arnie

Hiho

In that case i think simply one (or more) of the Encoder Configs was wrong.... so if you turn your encoder then a command was executed that have a wrong syntax and that stops the programm. ( as i said most of those issues are a wrong entry by the user)

About Version.

7.4 is pretty old and not include stuff like Vjoy and full LCD Support.
You can use it but you should remember that Forum support is just for "live" version. So please not request for help to technical problems aslong you use a Version before 7.5.2.
So... If you need no support and 7.4 is good for you then use it !
Good Luck !

Have it working pretty good now. Using the latest version 7.5.2
I did some checking and found some of my problems were being caused by a file being corrupt.

here at the end of the configuration file .mfmc
</settings>
</config>
</inputs>
</MobiflightConnector>
</MobiflightConnector>

found the last line twice not sure why but deleting it allowed it to load.
Then also kept getting a syntax error on my .mcc file

All is well now.
Thanks
