Hi Guys

Merry Christmas to all :D

Just a quick question,

I've started to put everything together now on one PC, I have:

I7
32gb Ram
2x 8gb ATI Radeon x580 Graphics
3 x 7 Port USB Hubs
800w Power Supply
For my Mip, I have 2 Mega Cards
Overhead Panel - 3 Mega Cards for LEDS, and 4 Leo Bodnar cards for toggles
Com and Nav 1 Mega
Transponder, ADF 1 Mega Card
Yoke x 2
Throttle Quadrant (Leo Bodnar)

So in total for FSX Flight is 14 USB devices connected, plus mouse, Keyboard, USB Sound x2 USB Dual Head Graphics equals - 20 USB devices

All works fine until I start FSX, then usually the keyboard turns off as does the mouse etc.

I'm just wondering if I'm drawing to much through the USB running all the USB's..

Would it benefit me if I swap all the 7 segment (currently 10) to a separate power supply rather than taking it from Mega card?

Hi,

are your USB-hubs with a seperate power supply? If not do so. You may take only 500mA for every USB port which come from you pc, otherwise you may run into trouble.
If you use an external power supply, you should take 500mA for every Mega modul.
I use 14 7 segment modules on one Mega without an external power supply but my modules only have 5 digits and it works fine.

Please check first if your hubs are powered with an extra supply. If not, so please do so.
If they are extra power provided you have a problem with your System USB.
So please also check if your system USB is not in power-save-mode.
Grüße,

Hi.
Here i´m not a expert.

But that sound for me as a System Problem. Not a Power Managment Problem.

You say a whole device is not working ( like keyboard) if a special situation occur (like starting fsx)
Here it would be interesting.... Is the keyboard stop working completly ( so it also not work in a other window and a text programm for example) OR does it stop working only for kleycommands in FSX ?

Finaly thats maby a "limitation" problem. A Computer work basicly binary... so every 2^x numberd are interesting for us. 0,1,2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256,512 and so on.
Maby there is somewhere a limit by 16... Then your 17th. Device stop working. Or a row maby can have only 8 and you have nine.

I Recommend.... Do some testings. Maby connect your Keyboard to a different board and connect a joystock on same spot as keyboard was until now. Does now the Joystick stop working ?
Experiment with a chaning number of devices.
Do you see a "logic" in the issue.... Like " Porblem ocure if number of devices increase more then xxx"

Please report experience. This would be verry helpfull for users with bigger projects !
Good Luck !
